OOSC x Birdie Blue: A Sustainable Collaboration Carved from the Slopes

At OOSC, sustainability is stitched into everything we do. That’s why we’re beyond excited to announce a collaboration that champions conscious fashion, upcycled design, and bold creativity: OOSC x Birdie Blue.

This partnership brings together two brands that share the same mission; reducing waste, reimagining materials, and creating with purpose. Birdie Blue, known for transforming deadstock skiwear into stunning street-ready pieces, aligns perfectly with our ethos at OOSC, where we craft outerwear from recycled plastic bottles, fishing nets, and sea waste.

Repurposed from the Slopes

This limited-edition capsule collection is all about giving materials a second life. Using surplus OOSC skiwear fabrics; high-performance, water-resistant, and packed with personality. Birdie Blue has designed a bold new range of accessories made to move with you. The collection features:

Tote Bags – Built from our signature vibrant skiwear prints, these bags are as eye-catching as they are functional, perfect for your everyday essentials or après-ski haul.

Fanny Packs – Whether you’re carving up the mountain or cruising through the city, these upcycled belt bags add flair and function to any fit.

Travel Bags – Durable, lightweight, and sustainably made, these are ideal for weekend adventures or carry-on missions with a conscience.

Each piece is made in small batches, using leftover fabric that would otherwise go to waste. Proof that style and sustainability can coexist.

From High-Performance to High Impact

At its core, this collaboration is about redefining what fashion waste looks like. Birdie Blue’s commitment to repurposing end-of-line and excess skiwear materials means every product has a story, and a smaller environmental footprint. These accessories are designed to last, built to perform, and destined to stand out.

Together, we’re extending the lifecycle of premium materials and proving that what’s considered "leftover" can become something extraordinary.

This Is What the Future Looks Like

The OOSC x Birdie Blue collection isn’t just about accessories. It’s about action. It's about showing that collaboration, creativity, and conscious choices can drive real change in fashion.

So whether you're packing for your next trip, heading to the slopes, or just want to wear your values on your sleeve (or shoulder), this collection is for you.

What inspired you to start the brand and why did you choose skiwear specifically?

BirdieBlue was born on a chairlift. I was skiing with my son, pregnant with my daughter, when my 20-year-old ski pants split down the middle. I couldn’t bring myself to toss them. They held too many memories. When I started looking for ways to repurpose them, I discovered how hard it is to recycle ski gear and how much of it ends up in landfills. Globally, over 92 million tons of textile waste are generated each year — the equivalent of a garbage truck full of clothes dumped every second.

That moment sparked everything. I realized I could turn old gear into something bold, beautiful, and functional, and BirdieBlue took off from there. Skiwear is made to last. It's durable, colorful, and often packed with personality. Giving it a second life just made sense.

Since then, we’ve saved over 6,000 pieces of gear from ending up in landfills and transformed them into one-of-a-kind bags built for everyday adventures. What started as a personal project has become a community-powered mission with a whole lot of color and purpose.

When did the collaboration with OOSC start and how?

I met OOSC founders Nick and Aaron at Outdoor Retailer in 2022, just after BirdieBlue had launched. When I walked by their colorful, retro styled booth, I instantly knew our partnership was meant to be. Their vibe was bold, fun, and full of personality — just like the gear we love to upcycle.

As we started talking and sharing more about the ethos behind our brands, we quickly connected over our shared sustainability missions. A few weeks later, OOSC sent Birdie a handful of broken ski suits that couldn’t be sold or repaired. We got to work and launched our very first collection: a small run of OOSC x BirdieBlue fanny packs.

They sold out almost immediately. Since then, the momentum hasn’t slowed. We’re now on our third collection, our biggest and most colorful yet, and we can’t wait to see where we take the partnership next.

Why do you think OOSC is the perfect skiwear brand to collaborate with?

OOSC brings the energy. Their prints are bold, their vibe is fun, and their throwback ski style is impossible to miss. But what really sets them apart is their commitment to sustainability. From using recycled polyester and organic cotton to creating collections from ocean waste, they’re not just talking about circular fashion. They’re building it.

We also love that OOSC recently launched a resale site. It shows that they’re thinking beyond just repurposing damaged suits. They’re working to keep quality gear in circulation and out of landfills for as long as possible. That kind of big-picture thinking aligns perfectly with what we’re trying to do at BirdieBlue.

We share the same values when it comes to reducing waste and making sustainability feel exciting and accessible. It’s not just a good fit. It’s a true partnership rooted in color, creativity, and a vision for a better future.

Do you have a favourite print you like working with from OOSC?

I love them all, but I’m definitely partial to neon colors — which is why I love the So Fetch suit. The hot pink and throwback vibes make it such a standout. Every time we cut into one, I know the bag is going to be a showstopper.

OOSC’s prints are what make these collaborations so fun to work on. They’re packed with personality and bring instant energy to every bag we make. Whether it’s a fanny pack, a dopp kit, or a carry all, the final product is always bold, unique, and guaranteed to turn heads.

How do you see the future of sustainable fashion evolving?

I think the future of sustainable fashion is rooted in circularity and creativity. It’s not just about using recycled materials. It’s about designing for longevity, reimagining waste, and keeping products in circulation for as long as possible.

Consumers are more thoughtful than ever about what they buy and where it comes from. In fact, recent studies show that over 60% of shoppers consider sustainability when making a fashion purchase (McKinsey & Company, The State of Fashion 2023), and 73% of Gen Z say they’re willing to pay more for sustainable products (First Insight & Wharton Baker Retailing Center, The State of Consumer Spending). People want to feel good about what they wear, not just how it looks, but what it stands for.

That’s where brands like BirdieBlue and OOSC come in. We’re proving that sustainability doesn’t have to be boring. It can be bold, bright, fun, and deeply personal.

I also believe the future depends on collaboration. When brands team up, sharing materials, ideas, and impact, we can scale circular solutions faster and make real progress across the industry.

The future of fashion is less waste, more meaning, and a whole lot more color.
